Rabbi, writer and broadcaster, Jonathan Romain MBE, will give the Sternberg Annual Public Lecture on Wednesday 20th February.
Rabbi Romain, minister of Maidenhead Synagogue in Berkshire and writer for a number of national newspapers, will deliver a free public lecture entitled ?The Inter-Faith Pilgrim?s Progress: An Examination of Current Trends and Future Pathways in Religious Dialogue?.
As a board member of the Three Faiths Forum and chair of the Accord Coalition (who campaigns for inclusive education), Rabbi Romain is a prominent figure in the rapidly developing world of inter-faith relations. He received the MBE in 2004 for his pioneering work nationally in helping mixed-faith couples, a theme covered in one of his books: ?Till Faith Us Do Part?.
Rabbi Romain also did a PhD in?History at the University of Leicester?in 1991 on ?The Foundation and Development of the Rabbinical Court of the Reform Synagogues of Great Britain, 1935-1965".
This lecture will cover the progress of inter-faith dialogue in recent decades, and Rabbi Romain will speak frankly about some of the problems it can cause, calling for radical new developments to ensure that progress will continue.
The lecture will take place from 5.30-6.30pm in the Rattray Lecture Theatre at the University of Leicester. It is free of charge and open to the public. Tickets are not required.?
